So I have mainly used bait casters growing up. We always fished from the shore so I loved to really put my arm into a cast. With spinning reels I always felt like I had to hold back a bit because most of our spinning reels were on lighter rod/reel combos.
This past Friday I was on the front of a bay boat fishing and my line busted on my baitcaster because of an oyster reef. We were pressed for daylight so I grabbed a spinning reel they had and started fishing again. It worked really well! I think it was a Penn/Ugly stick combo.
