Palacios Pavilion Pier

I fished the Pavilion Pier today with a local named Raul. Both of us watch Vast Overland youtube, and were talking about yall's spots. I caught a couple of nice Gafftop's and a small black drum, I almost landed a speckled trout, but it shook the hook right before I landed him. It was a beautiful day, nice breeze and overcast so not much direct sunlight.

Man the birds moved in real close to the pier, and I had a plastic shrimp that I cast right into the center of the birds, and that is when I hit that spec. He jumped several times, but stayed hooked, it was right when I almost had him to the pier he was able to shake it. Nice fish, maybe a 12 incher. The birds never moved back in after that, and the wind started picking up. It is a very nice pier, I just wish the end was a little wider, and that there were rod holders. Raul said he might install some.

You are so right it needs a couple of rod holders at the end for sure. So @LarryBoy showed us that the shallow area is where the flounder are there.

It looks like it would be a great spot for them, I haven't caught a flounder yet but it is only a matter of time. I rent a place in Freeport, and went fishing the Quintana Jetty this morning, and then got some mullet with my cast net. I was on my way home, and decided to detour to Palacios.

I am new to the area, so I haven't fished in too many spots yet. I watched this video, and I remember the girl in the bait shop who recommended it. I bet that place lights up when the specs are there.
