Looking for a Wading Buddy

Hello fellow anglers,

I’m looking to find someone who wouldn’t mind me joining them for my first 1–2 wades so I can get my bearings. I’ve got all the gear I need — waders, boots, rod, the works — just looking for an experienced wader who can help me get the courage to start.

I’m based in Victoria, but I’m happy to travel anywhere along the Texas coast to meet you in your own backyard. I’m comfortable fishing from piers and shorelines, but stepping into the water is new territory for me. Having someone who knows the ropes would make all the difference while I get used to reading the water, keeping my footing, and learning safe wading practices.

If you’re up for showing a fellow angler the ropes, shoot me a message. I’ll bring the bait and good conversation.

Tight lines,

Michael

Sounds like fun shennigans. Would be interested in a future meet up. I wade, have a Hobie, a Solo Skiff, a Gheenoe and a Carolina Skiff DLx178.
I got plenty of honey holes so I don't mind sharing and trading spots.

Rad man, whereabouts are you at? Im looking heavily into Majek Redfish lines right now. But until then I am wading from shore out at the moment.

Sorry for the late response brothaman. I live in the same area as where The Vast Overland shop is in Copperfield.

Majek is a heck of a machine. You wo t be disappointed. I used to run my boats for everything but realized I use my boat to get to so e spots and then I wade the spots anyway instead of fishing from the boat. I took a break from fishing a few years back after traveling to Indiana Bluegrass region to do some bass fishing and got bit by ticks and diagnosed with Lyme disease. Through dieting and exercise, it's helped my recover.
I flew there and met with a YouTuber named Chris from Sea-Money fishing.

I'm a big history guy so I blend fishing with history in the areas I fish. I fish from Lower Laguna Madre to the Florida Keys.

Matagorda area has some really cool places.

When I fish the backwaters there, it makes me feel like I've gone back a few hundred years (1500s). Things about Matagorda like the LA Salle, the La Belle, Cabeza De Vaca, Fort St Louis, Gracitas Creek from the 1500s. It's all still there.

Cabeza de Vaca, a Spanish explorer, was shipwrecked off the Texas coast in 1528 and spent several years living among Native Americans before eventually making his way to Mexico in 1536.
La Salle, a French explorer, established a settlement in Texas in 1685 and was murdered by his own men in 1687. (those goofy guys)

Michael,

I also started my in house shop where I do shirts, stickers and boat Vinyls.

I wanted to see if some of the guys the do get out there would like some Vast Overland shirts made. All I ask in return is to put my logo so we can support each other. Maybe it'll grow into something we can benefit and helps us get out on the water without being g out of pocket and help elevate Vast Overlands youtube content. Please let me know how I can help Contribute to help grow Vast Overland or any others members visions. Maybe gathering and collaboration. We can put all members company logos on the shirts. I love to help support small business.

I chose Gulf Coast United to connect with all of the coast from Texas to Florida. I see we have members throughout the Gulf Coast States. Guys I grew up with are guys like Gulf Coast Outdoors, the guys at Buggs lures, Down South.. etc.

I have been in Hiatus after losing my son but realized I must move foward for my daughter's. I say I move foward but will never move on because I never wanted to forget my son. When I'm out on the water is when I think of him and the saltwater is the food for my soul. It gave me PTSD so i took time away to not focus the bad energy towards anyone. I'm ready for meetups my bois!!!

In the spirit of Overland, we should maybe one day do our own Octobethoot!

Enjoy!! This was JP Chavez Octoberhoot.

Coming up with future stuff for the guys. In no way is this for any profit. If the guys from Vast Overland like any art, I'll send it over.
