Thoughts on sharing fishing spots?

This topic has a lot of strong/ mixed opinions, specifically on social media. I'm on the Galveston Saltwater Fishing Facebook group, and people go out of their way to blur out/ cover up the background of their pictures to "hide" their spots. Or if someone asks for some spot suggestions, they are answered with smart-ass replies like "in the water".

How do y'all feel about sharing your favorite fishing spots on a platform like this blog?

I feel that as long as there is a give and take from fellow anglers, there's no harm in sharing spots.

Would love to hear everyone's thoughts.
Tight lines!

Here's my catch from Deep Hole Park this past Saturday. 32in / 16.5lbs black drum on fish bites

Man that an awesome black drum catch. That fish looks perfect color and healthy.

When we first started posting videos we had some comments saying that they would not tell us good spots because we would show them. That was a couple of months ago but now we get suggestions in every video we are posting. We are not going to outfish a spot with our little channel. Honestly if someone wants to “gatekeep” the spot its fine I will keep looking and will always find a spot.

When I was a kid my dad and I would take off an early morning and to me it was always an adventure because he was taking us to a spot that he had very little directions to that someone had told him. Most of the time my dad and I did not come home with a ton of fish but those times we hit it good were great memories for us.

Me and my dad in a picture below probably 22 years ago. I remember that was a spot he just heard about and we went. We felt like kings that day.

I think you have to earn your sweet spot over the years, but if you are fishing a park or dock or bayou or something that’s super public then nobody should care, but I’ll never tell someone that’s not my friend for example hey I fish 5 yards to the left of the trash can and throw only 20 yards out to avoid the rocks

I can see your point. If it's super specific, I wouldn't give my exact spot to just anybody either. I do think it's not unreasonable to help put someone on some fish by giving them a general location though.

I don't mind sharing spots sometimes the fish are not there or they want lures instead of shrimp . Weather conditions can play a big role tight end and tied out also
