Piggy Perch vs Croaker for Big Trout

Just watched this video and it was awesome. The guy was fishing for gator specs with live piggy perch and I think it was down in Corpus Christie TX. My dad had always told me to use smaller croaker but the guy in the video states that croaker are out of season since it is already November. Man he really gets into them. In the video he says he has 15lb braid free lining a 25lb leader with a croaker kahle hook on the end.

So this past weekend we tried some croaker for bait while we were down in Port Lavaca. We did not have any luck but will try it again at another spot in the future.
